WHAT IS THE ECCA MISSION

A Brief History or ECCA

Sometime between 1977 and 1978 before any of the current Caribbean organizations in Edmonton began operating, the late Mike Lancaster proposed the formation of an organization to represent the Caribbean diaspora within Alberta’s Capital region.  This desire was spurred on during the summer of 1977 while Mike attended a multicultural event at the Jubilee Auditorium, where he became motivated to see the Edmonton Caribbean community become a more cohesive body, capable of not only servicing the needs of our expats, but also to showcase the diversity and vibrancy of the region.  ECCA became an official body in May of 1978, with 2017 seeing a re-energized executive taking up the mantel of the ECCA’s founding mandate.
